As events and touring look to reopen and restart, many have questions about how to do so safely. New strains of the COVID-19 virus, like the Delta and Lambda variants, are raising new concerns, making a fieldwide set of protocols more important than ever.

Developed in consultation with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the "Safe In Sound" checklist provides guidance and resources performing arts professionals need around:

• Face coverings
• Physical distancing
• Temperature checks
• Food and beverage
• Health implementation
• Touchless experiences
• Routine surface cleaning
• Vaccination, testing and quarantine
• Hospitality/Craft services/Catering
• Hair, Makeup and Wardrobe
• Backline

This universal set of safety protocols can and is intended to be used in combination with your local area health laws and regulations, as well as with other discipline-specific guidance, and can be adapted for use in communications and contracts.

Whether you are a presenter, agent or artist, we invite you to endorse and adopt this “Safe In Sound” reopening guidance, with the goal that this checklist becomes the singular, broadly-accepted standard and expectation for safe operations across all arts and entertainment events.
