APAP releases first-of-its-kind report on Small and Midsized Presenting Organizations (SAMPs) and the impacts of COVID-19 By | September 23, 2020 APAP is excited to release to the performing arts field "Small and Mighty: A Study of Small and Midsized Presenting Organizations in the United States," which includes a COVID-19 Supplement, the most current qualitative information to date on the impact of the pandemic on Small and Midsized Presenting Organizations (SAMPs). The first national study of its kind, the report illuminates the experiences of a segment of the performing arts ecosystem that has been largely overlooked and underreported, despite SAMPs making up a majority of presenting organizations. The study is part of APAP's growing focus on SAMPs and provides a greater understanding of their unique needs. APAP is grateful to the Wallace Foundation for its financial support of this research and the Foundation’s continued interest in the impact of SAMPs in their communities and the unique ways that SAMPs connect with and grow their audiences. We also thank our colleagues at Arts Midwest, Arts Presenters of Northern New England, Mid-America Arts Alliance, Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, New England Presenters, North Carolina Presenters Consortium, South Arts, Western Arts Alliance, and Western States Arts Federation for their contributions to this report. Are you a SAMP (a presenting organization with a budget between $50,000 and $2M)? Or do you know one that would benefit from being part of our SAMP Network? From now until June 2021, SAMPs can join at the low rate of $150. Please contact Membership Director Sue Noseworthy at snoseworthy@apap365.org to learn more. Read More
