Muslim Youth on Identity, Diversity and the Expressive Arts (MY-IDEA)
MY-IDEA is a component of the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP) Building Bridges: Arts, Culture and Identity grant program, aimed at building knowledge and changing perceptions about Muslim societies through direct experiences with artists and their work.
This competition provides opportunities for Muslims aged 18-29 to express their thoughts and feelings about living as a Muslim-American through their original creative work with a focus on how arts and cultural events have influenced the way they think about identity and diversity.
$250 will be awarded to winners and $100 to runners-up. Winning submissions will be posted online and may also be shared in other APAP communications and partner outlets.
Each entry must be submitted in one of the approved formats (i.e. writing, photography, audio, video or other artform) and will be reviewed by a team of professionals from the arts, education, and communications fields. There are several application periods for consideration, and applicants can submit up to twice during EACH period. Each application will be considered for the time period when it was received. Winners and runners up will be notified on a rolling basis.
